'Extension' • Level 3
DESCRIPTION: This level is designed for students who are ready to refine their techniques, explore more complex forms, and focus on developing their personal style. Students will work on creating more cohesive collections, pushing their making skills to new levels. In addition to skill-building, the course will incorporate design theory, allowing students to critically examine established potters' works and draw inspiration from both historical and contemporary pottery. Group critiques will play a key role, providing a platform for students to discuss their designs and receive constructive feedback. By the end of the course, students will have developed a clearer sense of their own artistic identity and be capable of producing work that reflects their personal style and technical ability.
Students will be encouraged to keep only the best examples of their term’s work. We will not be able to glaze and fire everything you make but you will go home with a small collection to be proud of. If you wish to fire larger pieces or a larger volume of work then we can discuss additional firing fees.
KEY SKILLS:
+ Advanced throwing and making techniques
+ Developing personal style
+ Design theory
+ Critical examination and critique
