COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This level is perfect for beginners or those seeking to refine their wheel-throwing basics. Students will focus on mastering foundational skills such as centering, pulling walls, and creating simple, functional forms. The course emphasizes consistency in technique and introduces students to the process of glazing and finishing their work. Students will be encouraged to keep only a few of the best examples of their work. We will not be able to glaze and fire everything you make as a beginner but you will go home with a small collection to be proud of.

‘EXPLORATION’ - LEVEL 2

DURATION:

8 Weeks - 2.5hr. class each week

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

In this level, students will focus on refining their throwing skills while developing a more consistent and controlled technique. The course introduces slightly more complex forms and technical skills, such as throwing larger pieces and learning how to create handles, lids, and spouts. Students will also begin to explore design theory and pottery aesthetics, considering how form and function intersect in the creation of their pieces. Regular group critiques will help students gain constructive feedback on their work, encouraging them to refine their approach and develop a deeper understanding of their personal style and direction in ceramics. 

Students will be encouraged to keep only the best examples of their terms work. We will not be able to glaze and fire everything you make but you will go home with a small collection to be proud of. If you wish to fire larger pieces or a larger volume of work then we can discuss additional firing fees.

‘EXTENSION’ - LEVEL 3

DURATION:

8 Weeks - 2.5hr. class each week

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This level is designed for students who are ready to refine their technique, explore more complex forms, and begin to develop their personal style. Students will work on creating more cohesive collections, pushing their making skills to new levels. In addition to skill-building, the course will incorporate design theory, allowing students to critically examine established potters' works and draw inspiration from both historical and contemporary pottery. Group critiques will play a key role, providing a platform for students to discuss their designs and receive constructive feedback. By the end of the course, students will have developed a clearer sense of their own artistic identity and be capable of producing work that reflects their personal style and technical ability.
